Nadine Baker has been a resident with her family in Kingston, Ontario, for 23 years.

As former Director of the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning and Chair of the City of Kingston’s Arts Advisory Committee, her dedication to supporting and participating in the local arts scene runs deep.

Trained professionally as an illustrator and visual artist in Toronto, with graduate business studies, Nadine’s passion and advocacy for the arts sector has now come full circle.

Since retirement from arts management, she has happily returned to her roots as a full-time artist, working primarily with acrylic paints, coloured pencil and watercolours. From her ‘Wonder Room’ she creates fresh and dynamic work motivated by her joyful and peaceful approach to life in Southeastern Ontario as well as her global adventures. With each piece, she aims to honour the everyday beauty that surrounds us by showcasing the wonder and versatility of these mediums.

Nadine has produced commissioned work and has participated in several Kingston and Ottawa area fine art exhibitions. Recent awards include international accolades for her unique portrait work. She is excited for many more opportunities to come!’’

What inspires her?

‘ I create art with the hope to elicit in others the same wonder that I feel about simple vistas and scenes, with a particular interest in the effects of light and depth. The human experience of a two-dimensional creation and its impact on the heart and mind fascinates me and fuels my work.’

With the loving support of my friends and family, and the belief that life is indeed too short, I'm now passionate about sharing my own journey and artwork. I hope to inspire other creatives to live authentically and fulfill their artistic calling at any age.‘

Nadine creates originals and custom landscapes, still lifes, and portraits in a variety of mediums including: acrylic mediums, watercolours and coloured pencils.
